Stock Market Reaches Its Highest Level in More Than Three Years

On July 24, the VN-Index surpassed the 1,520-point mark, continuing its upward momentum and trading at its highest level in more than three years. With this performance, Vietnam’s benchmark index has moved closer to its historic peak of 1,530 points established previously.

The stock market extended its rally as a large number of blue-chip stocks in the VN30 basket posted strong gains. A total of 22 out of 30 VN30 constituents closed higher. VJC led the market with a gain of 4.8%, even touching its ceiling price during the session.

Banking stocks continued to play a leading role in the market’s advance. HDB rose more than 4%, while MBB was the largest contributor to the VN-Index’s gain during the trading session. Positive sentiment spread across more than 20 banking stocks, including SHB, MBB, VPB, TCB, STB, and VIB.

The VN30 basket remained broadly in positive territory throughout most of the trading day.

VIC gained nearly 1%, remaining among the market’s key drivers. Meanwhile, VHM closed below its reference price. Performance within the group was mixed, with VRE advancing 1.9% while VPL edged slightly lower.

The market also witnessed strong performance from oil and gas stocks. BSR surged 4%, while PLX, GAS, PVD, PVC, PET, PVS, and OIL all finished the session in positive territory.
